You can save money depending on when you want your oil delivered. It’s simple, on certain days we deliver more oil to certain areas. That helps us save money, and we pass the saving on to you. To get a better price always choose the ‘Super’ option.
When you pay for your Heating Oil use a Debit Card. A Debit Card does not attract additional transaction charges making it a more cost effective method of payment for you.
Always order the maximum volume of heating oil your tank can accommodate or your budget can stretch to. The cost of delivering your heating oil is the same for a small or large volume, spreading this cost over a larger volume means your heating oil will cost less per litre which means better value for you.
If your thermostat is set higher than 20 degrees, turn it down. Lowering the temperature by even 1 degree could save you 10% off your home heating bill.
Only heat the rooms you are using – turn off the heating when you’re not there or if you’re going away for a few days.
Set your heating to come on 30 minutes before you get up in the morning and thirty minutes before you go to bed at night.
Don’t cover your radiators with wet clothes, etc. This will prevent the warm air from circulating properly.
Don’t forget your annual boiler check-up. An efficient boiler reduces your energy costs by producing more energy from less fuel.
When it’s time to replace your boiler, consider installing a condensing boiler. A higher efficiency boiler can reduce your heating costs by up to 25%.
Improvements in your home’s insulation can also have a dramatic effect on your heating costs:
Fitting a lagging jacket to your Hot Water Cylinder can cut heat loss by 75%
Attic Insulation can prevent 30% of your heat escaping.
Draught proof your windows and doors.
Take a shower. Showers generally use about 1/5 of the energy of a full bath. If you use a gravity shower install a water efficient shower head to reduce hot water usage.
